The first thing that jumps out. is the enormous side cover and general girth of the 4T80. In stock form its rated a conservative 305lbs.ft. torque. There are a few Caddys pushing WAY more than that thru. WebApr 20, 2006 · I do all of this from my work PC. Anyway it sounds like an easy swap even if you wanted to keep the 125C. The 3.8 will bolt in place of the 2.8. All of the cradle mounts look to be in the same place. This rule applies to the FWD cars so I'm assuming it is the same for a Fiero. You run into problems when you try to swap out an iron duke 4 banger.

Why go though all the trouble of swaping out the drive train and get it ready for a 3.8 when you can just as easily put a 4.3 or v8 in it and get a bigger motor, more power, and less headache? You can use the 700R4 from an S-10 with the 2.8 V6 or if you want an electronic trans get a 4L60E from a fourth gen F-body that used the 3800.
